The first month down...

This week work wise has been fairly standard with all my jobs being photography based and mainly involving the provost. I did get the chance to meet a guy who was 105!!and he was still walking and talking. impressive!i was also offered the obligatory tea and cake much to my happiness. Other than some minor editing of the conference i shot the week before my work week was fairly quiet.
I used this to my advantage by starting shooting for my 11.11.11 project. Ive basically decided to film two different people who have completely different, but very interesting backgrounds. I cant reveal too much as I don't want there to be any preconceived ideas about the interviewees. This gave me a chance to use my new mic to great effect as well as some interesting cut away shots using my very nice nikon 50mm. I managed to shoot all the cutaway shots in about an hour, as well as being educated on something I didn't even know existed (more info to follow) then shot the interview in less than half an hour. Im still learning a great deal about shooting interviews but one of the best methods I've learnt so far is to bring in the camera/mic etc and setup with the interviewee in the room. I find this allows them to become more comfortable with the camera there and it doesn't seem as daunting when i start to record. If possible i always like to meet the person before interviewing them, without any equipment there, just to get an idea of their personality and any interesting stories they have that could bring more life to the film.
I also reaffirmed my love of The Usual Suspects this week. A film which definitely stands the test of time and considering the amount of events which take place, is only an hour and a half long. My kind of film.
I also completed some more filming on a personal project which is soon to be released onto the world wide web. This consisted of my first ever sunset time lapse, overlooking dundee's magadalene green and their iconic bandstand. See pic below/above:
